  WOMBWELL TOWN F.C.
County Senior League Div One - Game 11
15/01/22 - Wombwell Town vs Sheffield Medics

Wombwell Town grabbed another three points when they faced Sheffield Medics, despite facing late pressure from the visitors.

Just like last time out against Kinsley Boys, Brad Kerr broke the deadlock on four minutes. The striker's shot from a narrow angle across goal beat Matt Claxton with a shot across the area.

Much of the first half was then broken up periods of play with a number of injuries for both sides, including a facial injury to defender James Copley, which saw him go to hospital to check for a broken nose and concussion.

A two minute spell starting from the 56th minutes saw the Wellers double then treble the lead with Jordan Cooper hitting the back of the net twice inside 90 seconds.

Cooper's first goal of the afternoon came via a header into the corner of the net following Will Harling's corner, and the striker made it 3-0 moments later and he struck from inside the box after Kerr's footwork into the box.

A brilliant fingertip save at the near post by Claxton to divert the ball onto the top of the crossbar denied Kerr his second of the game with 20 minutes left to play.

Medics kept trying to create a chance and on 82 minutes a foul by Eddie Agnew saw advantage played before Joe Egan fouled. This saw both players go into the book and become the only carded players of the game.

From the free-kick the ball was put from right to left and put past the unfortunate substitute keeper, Matty Simpson, who had only been on the pitch for eight minutes.

The Wellers regrouped and saw out the rest of the game to pick up the points and close the gap on leaders South Kirkby Colliery, who lost 5-1 at second placed Handsworth FC Reserves.
