  WOMBWELL TOWN F.C.
County Senior League Div One - Game 16
26/02/22 - Wombwell Town vs Kiveton Park

Wombwell Town got back to winning ways against a hard-working Kiveton Park side who might feel they could have snatched a point.

The home side started brightly and opened the scoring after just five minutes as Eddie Agnew headed home at the near post following a right wing cross from Gareth McDermott.

Kiveton then hit the post in their first attack which was caught by the wind and smacked the upright before being cleared for a corner.

Jono Davis, celebrating his 24th birthday, made a terrific save moments later as he got down to left to deny the visitors.

The equaliser came on 37 minutes as Jimmy Cregan smashed home an effort over the head of Davis who couldn't react in time to tip the ball over despite his best efforts.

Three minutes into the second half a poor clearance by Kiveton keeper Joe Dunn was pounced upon by captain Luke Exley who made no mistake from the edge of the area to restore the Wellers' lead.

Both Will Harling and Agnew could have been awarded a penalty on another day, but both appeals were waved away by the referee despite contact being made with the player's in the area.
