  WOMBWELL TOWN F.C.
County Senior League Div One - Game 19
26/03/22 - Wombwell Town vs Kinsley Boys

In a game where promotion hopefuls Wombwell Town were facing bottom club Kinsley Boys e a neutral coming into the game a minute late might have struggled to tell which team was which.

That first minute proved crucial to the way this game was going to go and a left booted piledriver by midfielder Brodie Cooper within the first 20 seconds gave the home side a very early lead.

After that initial shock, Kinsley Boys found their feet and made life more difficult for the Wellers and helped by young keeper Spencer White they stopped the lead increasing in the first half.

Efforts by Jay Hall, Gareth McDermott (including one direct from a corner), Najib Arrian and Jordan Cooper were all turned away by the keeper in a game where we lost count of the number of corners.

Another inspiring half time team talk by manager Karl Rose and his assistant Dean Cooper focused the players and it took just two minutes for the lead to double in the second half.

Forceful play into the box saw Arrian's shot parried by White, but the ball fell in front of Hall who took the chance to score just his second goal for The Wellers.

Arrian was involved again on 50 minutes to make it 3-0 and seemingly out of Kinsley Boys' reach. Arrian's shot across goal hit the post and Will Harling, who netted in his third game in a row, was on hand to tuck the ball home for his 10th goal for the club.

The ball struck the Kinsley goal frame twice more before they got a goal back on 56 minutes. A rare foray into the opposition's half saw them win a free kick. The kick was deflected onto the post by Sam Ackroyd and back into danger. Stand-in keeper Sam Russell managed to get his fingertips to the ball, but the Kinsley player was on hand to put it in.

The final goal of the game came on 82 minutes as Jordan Cooper made sure he wasn't going to be stopped again following a number of efforts denied and tapped in from all of an inch after his initial effort following a Harling free-kick hit the crossbar and bounced down as he ran towards the goal line.
