03/02/22 - Penistone Church U21 vs Wombwell Town U21

Wombwell Town Under 21s were just two minutes away from taking a point back home following their win at Dronfield Town the previous Thursday.

It took an 88th minute winner from close range to beat a side who deserved a point at Penistone Church.

Harrison Cox and first team regular Jay Hall came close to opening the scoring for the visitors, but were denied by blocks in front of goal with more oh-so-nearly moments proving frustrating for manager Jack Butterley.

The Wellers defence and midfield were as solid a unit as they have been all season with midfielder Brad Cresswell covering more ground than any other player.

It shows that the team have come a long way and are still improving game after game with hopes that the final two league matches will yield good results ahead of the Champions League style cup competition.
