Reserves Pre-Season Friendly
09/07/22 -  Jubilee vs Wombwell Town Reserves

The new Wombwell Town Reserves side faced a baptism of fire in their first pre-season friendly against Jubilee.

Recovering from demotion of the CSL Premier Division, Jubilee fielded several players with NCEL appearances last season, but had to battle against a resilient, youthful WTR.

The new Wellers' side, comprising of last season's U19 and U21 squad for the majority, were keen to show what they could do against an experienced adult side and it took just three minutes for the deadlock to be broken.

Creative skill in midfield saw Ash Fisher supply a ball to Chay Searston on the left of the box, who quickly cut inside and beat the defender before laying a ball for Brandon Glaves who couldn't miss.

With Jubilee finding their feet put sustained pressure to good use just before the drinks break as a foul in the area allowed them to equalise from the penalty spot.

On 33 minutes Glaves' second of the afternoon restored the lead in a similar fashion to the opener. Lewis Easterbrook found himself on the left of the penalty area this time and he faked a shot taking former Wellers' trialist Jenson Beever away from goal, before supplying a pass to the marksman in the box.

Once again though Jubilee pulled the game back with an effort six minutes later. An initial save from Aaron Davison saw the keeper out of position and despite several defenders on the line the shot flew over their heads and in.

Jubilee made their experience count in the second half and goals on 58 and 65 minutes denied the reserves a deserved draw in their first official pre-season outing.

Chay Searston almost pulled one back with ten minutes remaining but was denied by the leg of Beever who saved to safety.
