20/07/24 - Wombwell Town vs Brighouse Town
Former coach Mick Norbury and a couple of ex-Wellers returned with Brighouse Town for our penultimate friendly of 2024. It was mostly an even first half with neither keeper really troubled as the defence on both sides worked hard. The breakthrough came on 23 minutes as Jordan Kershaw got the better of his man down the right hand side and was able to slot the ball past the on-rushing Brighouse goalkeeper. WTFC 1, BTFC 0. As usual substitutes in the second half changed the complexion of the game as Brighouse added speed to their ranks, with the Wellers giving more time to those knocking on the door to make the squad, including their only outfield trialist of the afternoon. The visitors equalised through Jack Normanton on 61 minutes and they took the lead on 77 minutes as one of those former Wellers, Rhys Plater, set up a tap-in for Clark Greaves.
