WOMBWELL TOWN F.C.
Macron NCEL Premier Division - Game 10
20/09/25 - Wombwell Town vs Beverley Town

If the rain didn't damper the spirits in the Wombwell camp, then the performance and final score against Beverley did.

There wasn't much to get the crowd excited once the visitors took the lead, but the opening 20 minutes was good game between two-evenly matched sided.

Ollie Fearon's drive from the edge of the area forced Leigh Overton into a save and the returning Oli Robinson from injury looked lively and fired just over the crossbar.

Beverley then came to life and a save by Sebba Malkowski on the line was then blocked by the defence as a follow-up shot came towards goal. This really was a warning and just a minute later McCauley Snelgrove squeezed his effort past the defence and into the keeper's bottom left corner.

Half Time: 0-1

A half time substitution that saw Sam Finlaw replaced through injury, quickly followed five minutes into the half by the departure of Owen Sykes shouldn't have had an impact, but a second goal for Beverley on 53 minutes certainly did.

A ball forward by captain Alex Knaggs was redirected towards goal by Snelgrove, and as the ball curled in it looked as though Glen Sani got a touch, which would have lead to an offside flag, the action didn't see contact and Snelgrove got his second of the afternoon.

The rain got heavier and so did the deficit with a third goal on 70 minutes. A run into the box from Luka Suluburic down the left saw a challenge shrugged off as he entered the box and a pass to Nathan Ofori left the midfielder with time to place his shot that Malkowski could only redirect into the roof of the net.

Heads down, there was very little creativity by the Wellers after they went two goals down, something very uncharacteristic, and the afternoon's misery was complete with six minutes to go as Sani completed the scoring.

Malkowski did well to dive to his right and parry the ball wide of goal initially, but Beverley were the quickest to react and Conner Harman reclaimed the ball and find Sani free to finish.
