WOMBWELL TOWN F.C.
Macron NCEL Premier Division - Game 13
11/10/25 - Albion Sports vs Wombwell Town

It was another game that slipped away for the Wellers as they fell to a seventh straight game without a win in all competitions.

Albion Sports proved to be a well structured team on their artificial surface and controlled much of the possession in the early stages, however it was the Wellers who had the first chances to score in the game.

An Owen Sykes free-kick on the left wing after a quarter of an hour saw a scramble in the box before the eventual shot was cleared off the line to deny Eddie Agnew.

Two minutes later Agnew's squared ball found Ollie Fearon in the penalty area, but once again the effort towards goal was blocked away.

A ball in the air on 22 minutes saw Jack Wilson hit the deck in agony after receiving an elbow to the face, that left the midfielder with a badly broken nose that forced him to leave the game and a yellow shown to Albion's Talent Ndlovu. On another day the card could have been red.

The resulting free-kick taken by Morgan James when the game restarted four minutes later saw keeper Lewis Hill spill the ball in front of him, but the quick reactions of his defence denied a follow-up chance.

More controversy came as the Wellers took the lead on 29 minutes. A ball over the top saw Fearon initially run towards the ball before peeling away after realising he was offside and this allowed Agnew to run through onto the ball, into the area and finish with a cool shot into the keeper's bottom left corner.

Sebba Malkowski denied a quick equaliser with a fine save down to his right to deny Mohammed Qasim three minutes after the goal and Albion's captain Nathan Cartman headed over the bar from a good position to give the visitors a warning going into half time.

Half Time: Albion Sports 0, Wombwell Town 1.

The confrontation of the Albion bench to the referee as they left the field at the break appeared to have the effect they wanted as the second half saw more decisions go against the Wellers.

Just two minutes into the game Fearon's ankle was kicked on the edge of the area only for play to continue with Agnew stretching to put the shot wide. The referee was unwilling to hear Fearon's complaints.

Albion found an equaliser on 49 minutes as what looked like a cross by Hamza Hamdosh curled over Malkowski and into the net before bouncing back out. It looked like a goal from the other end of the pitch and the assistant referee flagged to agree.

The Wellers found themselves on the wrong side of the decision yet again on 56 minutes as Agnew found himself in the box at the right hand post and as he was about to shoot was kicked by the Albion man which saw Agnew fall. No penalty and a yellow card for simulation summed up the Wellers luck in one moment.

Feeling deflated by one decision, the Wellers found themselves behind just two minutes later a move down the right saw a low pass into the penalty area for Cartman to finish with a shot across Malkowski's diving body.

There were brief glimpses of attacks for the Wellers in the final half hour as Agnew shot wide and Fearon's flick over his shoulder found Mason Barlow, whose volley was straight down the throat of the keeper.
