SHCSL Division One - Saturday 2nd November - AFC Dronfield vs WTFC
The joint leaders of Division One go head-to-head tomorrow as The Wellers travel to AFC Dronfield for a 2pm kick off.
Wombwell Town go into the game as the only undefeated side in the league and have only dropped two points, which came in the 1-1 draw against tomorrow's hosts in September.
Manager Karl Rose looks to include a number of fresh players in the squad, including defenders Peter Bartleson and the returning Oliver Green.
AFC Dronfield haven't been beaten in the league since their second game of the season, although it did come at home, against Sheffield Medics.
In their last outing they beat New Bohemians 5-0 with Jamie Lawson scoring a hat-trick on October 19th.
The game will be played on the 3G pitch at Gosforth Fields (S18 8QY) with a 2pm kick off.
Match Report: Wellers Go Three Points Clear
With a depleted team Wombwell Town battled until the last second to secure a win big over their title challengers AFC Dronfield.
Both keepers made spectacular saves in the opening five minutes to set the tone of the game, but it wasn't a Brad Kerr penalty broke the deadlock.
A handball decision on 36 minutes gave the visitors the spot kick and Kerr netted his ninth goal of the season.
Joe Oliver came seemingly from nowhere as half time approached to score his first goal of the season as he dinked the ball in off the near post with the defender in front of him flat footed.
The second half saw an explosion of drama for all the wrong reasons as frustrations boiled over on the pitch and on the sidelines.
AFC Dronfield pulled a goal back on 55 minutes as Matty Davies was caught out by the pass placed behind him and the striker scored into the near corner.
Ten minutes later a tackle by Peter Bartleson saw the debutante win the ball, but referee Andrew Price deemed the tackle one that wasn't in the right manner and showed him a second yellow card.
Anger from the bench then saw coach and substitute James Dudgeon shown a straight red card and others warned about their conduct.
More bookings were then issued by the referee as he tried to keep the game in order, but after a lengthy amount of added time keeper Sam Leigh reacted after being fouled as he collected the ball and pushed his opponent in the chest, giving the referee no choice but to show another red.
The win gives the Wellers a three point lead at the top of the table with a game in hand on AFC Dronfield.
