Pre-Season Friendly - Tuesday 18th August - WTFC vs North Gawber Colliery
Match Report: History Repeats Itself
Last summer our friendly against North Gawber Colliery was called to a premature halt after a quarter of an hour due to an injury to left back Jak Rennison.
The rematch was able to make the 80 minute mark before the game had to be abandoned again.
Ironically the injury, a severe ankle break to the North Gawber man, happened in the same area of the pitch after his studs got caught in the pitch after a sliding tackle which saw Mark Harling win the ball.
The player was in obvious agony and the referee quickly called it time for the evening which saw the visitors 1-0 up at the time.
The only goal came after 38 minutes when a slip by Joe Egan saw the striker run into the box and dink the ball over Jonathan Davis who was advancing forward from goal.
Davis had made a double save earlier in the game and on 58 minutes celebrated when a penalty was put wide following a foul by Burt Fraser.
The game was almost drawn level on 75 minutes when trialist Kieran Price headed towards goal only for his effort to be cleared before the ball hit the back of the net.
Match Result: Wombwell Town 0, North Gawber Colliery 1 (at time of abandonment).
