Toolstation NCEL Division One - Game 13
30/09/23 - Parkgate vs Wombwell Town
This highly anticipated encounter between teams starting the day in third and first took a while to burst into life, but a booking for Daniel Patterson on 17 minutes kick started the game into action. Two minutes later Kane Reece came close to opening the scoring as he struck the crossbar at the far post after Owen Birks' throw from the right hand side. The opening goal came on 26 minutes as Callum Walton found himself with space on the left to lift the ball into the box for Gadhafi Kiwanuka to control beautifully before hitting the ball past Jordan Greaves to set up Brad Kerr who followed up the effort to make sure it went in the net rather than wide of the target. Things became even better for the visitors just four minutes later when Reece was brought down in the penalty area and Gavin Allott was able to convert from the spot kick to make it 15 goals in seven appearances. Parkgate then earned themselves a penalty two minutes before the break as Jonathan Davis missed the ball from the 1-on-1 and took the man instead, earning a booking. Silas Valladolid-Collins converted, despite Davis diving correctly. Half Time: PFC 1, WTFC 2. Parkgate dominated for much of the second half, but it wasn't until the 70th minute when Davis was tested again. Two saves in quick succession denied the hosts as their corner was then fired over from inside the penalty area. As the rain came down the scoreline got just as dreary for the Wellers as Brandon Potts equalised with nine minutes remaining. The substitute found himself in the box and took the ball past Davis, who was careful not to make the same mistake as at the end of the first half, and Potts was able to put his effort from the byline into the net from the narrowest of angles. Additional pressure came and just three minutes later Parkgate were in the lead for the first time in the game. A rare mistake by Rikki Paylor saw Valladolid-Collins break through to score his second of the game. Chances in the second half were few for the Wellers, but a free kick as the game entered added time saw Davis put a free-kick into the box which was half cleared to Paylor. The defenders initial effort was blocked, but the rebound was stopped dead and smashed low into the bottom corner for Paylor to snatch the equaliser. Full Time: Parkgate FC - 3 Silas Valladolid-Collins 43(p), 84 Brandon Potts 81 Wombwell Town - 3 Brad Kerr 26 Gavin Allott 30(p) Rikki Paylor 90+1 Attendance: 180
