Toolstation NCEL Division One - Game 14
07/10/23 - Wombwell Town vs Louth Town
Having drawn at Parkgate the week before and knowing that Louth Town visited the Recreation Ground having won at Parkgate midweek there no time for complacency. The first 45 left a lot to be desired though as neither team really threatened the keeper at both ends of the pitch. Possibly the best chance came four minutes from time when Gavin Allott headed wide from a Callum Walton corner. Half Time: WTFC 0, LTFC 0. The first half matched the score from the last home match against Shirebrook, and the second half copied the second as well as the Wellers finally took control of proceedings. Fans we left scratching their heads just six minutes in at Walton played in Brad Kerr to the right of the penalty area. Kerr was able to take the ball past Alex Lait and from a narrow angle went for goal, only for Harry Crawford to deflect the ball onto the post and the rebound put over by Kane Reece with an awkward overhead flick from close range. The breakthrough came on 63 minutes as a half cleared Walton corner was smashed over the crowd into the top corner from 30 yards by Harley Wilson for his first goal in a Wellers shirt. A second goal came from an 80th minute goal kick by Jono Davis who found the head of Allott just outside the box and his flick forward found substitute Eddie Agnew who played the ball across goal for Kerr to slide in and grab his 52nd for the club. Points were secured a minute from time as Walton carried the ball down the left wing and into the box. His pass back found Brodie Cooper 6 yards from goal and able to beat Lait to the keeper's left. Three minutes into added time the clean sheet went as a long throw into the box was deflected over the defence to Jordan Smith who found himself unmarked as he ran towards the ball. Wombwell Town - 3 Harley Wilson 63 Brad Kerr 80 Brodie Cooper 89 Lout Town - 1 Jordan Smith 90+3 Attendance: 137
