Community Event - Aalish's 'RidetheTheme' Dream - Charity Race Night
Wombwell Town FC are hosting a charity race night on Saturday 7th May for Aalish's 'RidetheTheme' Dream.
The whole family is welcome to join in an evening of fun and racing where there will also be a raffle and a buffet included in your £5 ticket price. For more information on the event and to message for tickets please visit their Facebook page here. Tickets can also be purchased from the Clubhouse at the Recreation Ground via the bar.
About the charity:
Aalish Naylor was just six years old when she was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer. Aalish made it her goal to enjoy every moment as all children should be able to and lived for theme parks. Aalish was able to visit Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Lightwater Valley, Gullivers Kingdom, Flamingo Land and Disnelyland Paris (to name a few) and her charity has been set up to raise money for other children with neuroblastoma to have the same opportunity.
Aalish sadly lost her battle on Sunday 10th June 2018 at the age of eight. Mother Joanne and father Martin are determined to keep her memory alive and help other families going through the same battle. Around 1400 children are diagnosed with neuroblastoma every year.
Before Covid hit, Aalish's 'RidetheTheme' Dream had held a number of events and are now looking to raise money once again.

WHAT IS NEUROBLASTOMA?
Words taken from www.neuroblastoma.org.uk
Neuroblastoma is a cancer that is almost always found in children. Childhood cancers are usually different from cancers affecting adults. They tend to happen in different parts of the body to adult cancers and behave differently. Cancers in children also respond differently to treatment.
Neuroblastoma is classified as an embryonal tumour, a type of cancer that develops from the cells left behind from a baby’s development in the womb. The cells from which it develops from are specific cells in the nervous system called neuroblasts, giving neuroblastoma its name:
‘neuro’ means nerve
‘blast’ means cells in an early stage of development
‘oma’ means a group of cells, or a tumour
The tumour occurs either in the sympathetic nervous system or closely associated adrenal glands and is usually, although not always, located in the abdomen.
